Mall History

Prior to August 1972, the location of the Lebanon Valley Mall was nothing more than a landfill.  Department Store magnate Albert Boscov had a vision of expanding Boscov's Department Stores into Lebanon County.  The store opened in August 1972 to rave reviews from the residents of the Lebanon Valley.  Construction of the mall would begin a few short years later and culminate with the opening of the Lebanon Valley Mall in 1975.  A dedication ceremony was held on October 6, 1975 marking a new era in retail in the Lebanon area.  Over the years, mall tenants have included such names as Rea & Derick Drugs, Slack Shack, Frametastick, Seafood Shanty and Deb Shop to the current lineup of Lebanon Valley Mall tenants. 

In May 1996, ground was broken on the first major renovation to the Lebanon Valley Mall since it opened more than 20 years prior.  The construction would make way for the arrival of JCPenney and add an entire new wing to the building.  The familiar flat front of the Lebanon Valley Mall had a new look with Penney's expanding the mall's foot print toward State Route 422.  The renovation also included changes to the interior of the mall with new flooring and changes to the fountain and stage area near Boscov's.

The next era of development at the Lebanon Valley Mall would begin in December 2005.  Prizm Asset Management, LVM's management company, and Aliance Entertainment embarked on a deal to build the most advanced movie theater ever in Lebanon County.  The new theatre would include stadium seating, digital sound and 10 screens.  The Great Escape Theatres Lebanon Valley Mall 10 opened to the public on Thursday, July 13, 2006.
